Oldham Nature & Environment Lecture: Carl Safina

The 2025 Oldham Nature & Environment lecturer will be Carl Safina, to culminate the town-wide celebration of Earth Month with its theme of biodiversity. Safina’s lyrical non-fiction writing (he has been called a modern-day Thoreau) explores how humans are changing the living world, and what the changes mean for non-human beings and for us all. His work fuses scientific understanding, emotional connection, and a moral call to action.
