New Canaan Library will host its latest installment of the “Chat and Chop” culinary series featuring Emmy-award-winning NBC Today co-anchor Al Roker and his daughter, Courtney Roker Laga. The father-daughter duo will lead a live cooking demonstration on Sunday, November 3, at 2:00 PM in the Library’s Kend Kitchen, sharing their passion for food, family, and fun.

Tickets for the event are priced at $75, and attendees will not only witness Al and Courtney’s dynamic cooking techniques but also receive a sample of one of their favorite recipes. Additionally, each participant will receive a signed copy of their latest cookbook, Recipes to Live By. The cookbook brings together personal stories and beloved family recipes, blending tradition with modern culinary techniques. Tickets can be purchased on the Library’s website, and Elm Street Books will be on-site with additional copies available for purchase.

Recipes to Live By is much more than a traditional cookbook. It features recipes deeply rooted in the Roker family’s personal history, offering dishes that reflect their shared love of food and memories created around the dinner table. Al Roker’s decades-long passion for cooking is evident throughout the book, which includes a wide range of dishes from simple comfort food to holiday favorites. His daughter, Courtney, brings her own twist to these classics, balancing tradition with innovative takes on familiar meals.

Attendees will also learn practical cooking tips and techniques as Al and Courtney showcase their favorite recipes live. This event offers something for all levels of home cooks, whether they’re seasoned in the kitchen or just looking for inspiration. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the Library’s programs, and according to the Library’s website, donations will be tax-deductible.

This is a unique opportunity to engage with two dynamic personalities in the culinary world, as they bring their family’s culinary journey to life through food, storytelling, and live demonstrations.
