This past week, New Canaan High School’s sports teams were in full swing, engaging in both preseason scrimmages and official season matches. The variety of events, from lacrosse to softball, and tennis to baseball, gave our student-athletes ample opportunity to test their skills, work on team dynamics, and face off against challenging opponents.
Varsity Girls Lacrosse
The week commenced with the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team engaging in a scrimmage against Sacred Heart of Greenwich. This early matchup was an excellent chance for the team to refine their play and cohesion on the field.
Varsity Boys Lacrosse
Tuesday brought the Varsity Boys Lacrosse team to the forefront, with a home scrimmage against Rye, NY, at New Canaan HS-Dunning Stadium. The event was a solid run for the team, hinting at a promising season to come.
Varsity Boys Volleyball
The Boys Varsity Volleyball team was active with a scrimmage against Westhill on Tuesday, held at the New Canaan HS-Main Gym. They continued their preseason efforts with another scrimmage on Thursday against Joel Barlow, aiming to fine-tune their skills for the main season.
Varsity Softball
The Varsity Softball team participated in two matches this week. They started with a scrimmage against St. Luke’s at Waveny Park-Orchard Field. Their week concluded with a competitive match on Saturday against Foran, where they faced a narrow 1-0 loss away at Foran High School.
Varsity Boys Tennis
On Wednesday, the Boys Varsity Tennis team had a scrimmage against Brunswick School, hosted at the New Canaan HS-NCHS Tennis Courts. This match served as a valuable early-season test against a noteworthy opponent.
Varsity Baseball
The Varsity Baseball team’s week was highlighted by a scrimmage against Stamford and then two consecutive games against Abbott Tech on Saturday, March 30th. The team started strong with a 12-0 victory in the morning game, followed by an 8-4 win in the afternoon, showcasing their strong offensive skills and teamwork.
The week’s activities were about the journey: working on teamwork, enhancing individual skills, and gaining experience against competitive teams. As the season unfolds, New Canaan High School’s athletes are showing they’re equipped and ready for the challenges ahead.
