Ugly sweaters were highly encouraged at the New Canaan Women’s Platform Tennis League holiday party! The Waveny Paddle Hut overflowed with paddle players wearing brightly patterned knitwear, celebrating the end of the fall season at a festive event on December 15. About 160 New Canaan women play in the League, which has two seasons – fall and winter. “Paddle tennis is a fun, easy to learn, community sport that gets women out on the courts with their friends and neighbors. Grab a friend and come out and play! It’s also a great way to meet friends – or we will set you up with a partner if you need one,” noted Terri Hott, one of the League Chairpersons. The League sponsors several social events throughout the season including the holiday party, an end of season luncheon/awards ceremony, and a working women’s cocktail party. For those needing lessons, Claire Norton is a paddle pro who teaches several clinics through the New Canaan Recreation Department and welcomes everyone to the League – from beginner to very experienced!
