I’m a registered Republican. But I worry that our local Republicans will continue to prioritize partisanship over competence. New Canaan runs on the generous devotion of time and work by volunteer citizens. Town committee assignments should be made with an eye to competence, not party affiliation. Excellent schools, fiscal prudence, adequate and wise cell tower construction — these and other important issues don’t have Republican/Democrat sides. But these issues do require the best people. That’s why I’m voting for Amy Carroll.
