Varsity Girls Soccer
The Girls Varsity soccer team squared off against Fairfield Warde and Ludlowe along with Greenwich this week. The Varsity team was unfortunately beaten by Ludlowe 0-3 on September 18th, but came back two days later to beat Warde. In a close match they beat Warde 1-0. On Friday the 22nd they unfortunately lost to Greenwich in a 2-1 match.
Varsity Boys Soccer
The Varsity team here at NCHS has had a wild ride this week. Starting off with a victory over Fairfield Ludlowe in a 2-1 game on September 19th, they went on to tie Fairfield Warde 2-2 on September 21st. Finally, they lost Saturday the 23rd in a 1-7 game against Greenwich
Varsity Girls Cross-Country
Girls Varsity Cross-Country had a solid week. They started off strong by winning the Ludlowe, Norwalk, and Wilton meet. At the Winding Trails Invitational race they also placed third in the large schools division.
Varsity Boys Cross-Country
Varsity Boys Cross-Country had a successful week running. Starting off strong in the week they won at the Ludlowe, Norwalk, Wilton meet held in Waveny. Later in the week on the 23rd they won again at the 11th Winding Trails Invitational meet.
Varsity Field Hockey
Varsity Field Hockey has had a fairly rough opening to the season, with a 0-4 record going into this week. While this appeared to continue on the 19th when they lost to Staples 1-4, they managed to turn this around later in the week. On September 22nd, New Canaan’s Varsity Field Hockey won their first game of the season against Cheshire in a 3-0 blowout game.
Varsity Boys Golf
After their match on the 18th against Wilton was postponed because of rain, they lost to Staples 150-143 (Lower score wins in golf). These were the stats from the game:
New Canaan: Brooks Thompson 35, Will Morawa 37, Patrick Saxe 39, George Ives 39, Drew DeGaetano 44
Staples: Sawyer Dalzell 34, Harrison Browne 34, Gus Palmer 38, Phillip Sullivan 38, Chris Taylor 37
They will look to recover from this loss by beating St. Joseph on the 27th. Although the match didn’t go as planned the Varsity team looks promising and will likely have a successful season ahead of them.
Varsity Girls Volleyball
The NCHS Varsity volleyball team has been playing excellently this week. On September 20th, the Varsity team beat Stamford 3-0. Later in the week on the 22nd they won again against Danbury in another 3-0 game.
Varsity Football
Following a 47-0 blowout against Warde, the Varsity team continued their win streak. On September 23rd, they beat Windsor in a 33-12 game.
