Fentanyl Seizure and Arrest in Greenwich

The Greenwich Police Department Narcotics Section developed information that Greenwich residents at Quarry Knoll were actively selling fentanyl and crack cocaine.

On 8/30/23 at 0500hrs, detectives and patrol officers set up surveillance on the residence.   They observed a Portchester resident enter the home and leave after a brief period.  Officers stopped the suspect and found in his possession four bags of suspected fentanyl.  The suspect advised that he just purchased the narcotic substance from the resident.  The suspect was arrested and issued a misdemeanor summons for one (1)count of 21a-279 C Possession of a Controlled Substance with a court date of 9/8/23.  Officers released the suspect from custody after the issuance of the summons.

On 8/30/23 at approximately 0547hrs, members of the Greenwich Police Department served a search warrant on the residence of Quarry Knoll and its residents.   Officers located and seized approximately 6.1 ounces of cocaine, 4.7 ounces of fentanyl, 18.5 ounces of a cutting agent, and prescription pills.

As a result, Officers arrested on the following charges:

Suspect 1: was inside the residence to purchase drugs.  Found on her person was a single bag of a rock-like substance suspected to be crack cocaine.  She also possessed two (2) hypodermic needles used to inject fentanyl.   Demane was issued and released on a misdemeanor summons with a court date of 9/8/23 for one (1) count of 21a-279 C Possession of a Controlled Substance and one (1) count of 21a-267 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Suspect 2 was charged with the following;

    • 1 count – 21a-267(a) Use of Drug Paraphernalia
    • 1 count  – 21a-277(a)(1) Sale of Narcotics Substance
    • 7 counts – 21a-277(a1A++) Possession with intent to sell narcotics – 2nd Offense
    • 1 count – 21a-277c Poss Drug Paraphernalia Drug Factory Situation
    • 7 counts – 21a-279(a)(3) Poss Control Substance 3rd Offense

Suspect 3 is a convicted felon with a history of selling narcotics.  He also had an active extraditable felony arrest warrant issued by the NYPD.  He was charged with the following:

  • 1 count – 21a-267(a) Use of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 1 count – 21a-277(a)(1) Sale of Narcotics Substance
  • 7 counts – 21a-277(a1A++) Possession with intent to sell narcotics – 2nd Offense
  • 1 count – 21a-277c Poss Drug Paraphernalia Drug Factory Situation
  • 7 counts – 21a-279(a)(3) Poss Control Substance 3rd Offense

Suspect 2 was released on a written promise to appear with a court date of 9/8/23.  Suspect 3 could not post his $100,000 bond and was held at the Greenwich Police Department pending arraignment on 8/31/23 at Stamford Superior Court.

The Greenwich Police’s goal is to lower the overdose incidents in Greenwich using a strategy that synchronizes the efforts of Public Education, Treatment Services, and Targeted Enforcement.  The Greenwich Police Department works closely with other law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.  The Department will continue to foster strong relationships with the surrounding in-state and out-of-state police departments to identify opioid distributors who supply Greenwich drug abusers and the surrounding Fairfield County Towns.
