With much help from out of state donors, including real estate developers, there is a full court press on to defeat Ryan Fazio in order to give the Democrats a veto proof majority in the state senate.
Ryan Fazio has been the leading voice in the Senate in opposition to proposals to limit town control over zoning matters and force towns and their taxpayers to pay for massive additional housing deemed their “fair share”. We do not want our towns to turn into coop city and we don’t want the massive real estate tax increases needed to finance same.
Ryan has also taken the lead in finding ways to limit the spiraling costs of electricity in Connecticut. The governor recently met with him to discuss this issue. Ryan wants to end the practice of billing rate payers a “public benefit” charge for things like EV charging, and instead transfer these items to the state’s budget.
Ryan has been a creative solutions oriented state senator who stands in the way of one party rule. In addition to support from Republicans, he deserves the support of Democrats and independents who favor good government, local control and lower energy costs.
