Men’s Club speaker to focus on investing for retirement

Julie Jason, an award-winning financial columnist and the founder and CEO of Jackson Grant Investment Advisers, will speak to the New Canaan Men’s Club Friday July 26, on planning and managing finances in retirement.

The author of the recent book, The Discerning Investor, published by the American Bar Association, and a columnist for Hearst publications, Jason will speak at the club’s meeting to be held in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church beginning at 10 a.m.

“No matter your age, you will need to create a strategy that will help guide your investment decisions through each stage of life and prepare you for the decades that define retirement,” she writes underscoring the importance of financial planning in the opening of her most recent book. “At stake is your own and your family’s security. How you formulate and execute that strategy depends in large part on you. Retirement investing is a very personal exercise.”

Her firm specializes in creating personalized retirement plans, emphasizing that a retirement portfolio needs to be unique to the individual, creating legacies, as she describes.

Based in Stamford, Jackson Grant services high net worth individuals as a fiduciary. Jason, who holds a degree from Columbia Law School, had a career on Wall Street before launching her investment advisory firm in 1988.

In addition to her most recent book, she has also authored several books on retirement planning, including AARP Retirement Survival Guide and Retire Securely.
