Kami Evans to run for State Senate District 26

Westport resident Kami Evans has announced her candidacy for the State Senate seat in District 26. Known for her advocacy of family values and community strength, Evans aims to bring her dedication and experience to the legislative arena.

Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications from Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), equipping her with a robust foundation in communication, strategic planning, and community engagement. She furthered her education with Public Leadership Credentials from Harvard’s Kennedy School, gaining advanced skills in public policy, governance, and leadership.

Professionally, Evans has held notable leadership roles, including her tenure as the Director of Community Outreach for GCA of Fairfield. In this role, she spearheaded initiatives that connected the community with youth sports opportunities, resulting in significant increases in financial resources through donations, directly benefiting numerous families.

Her community involvement extends beyond her professional career. Evans has collaborated with local nonprofits such as “Filling In the Blanks,” “The Westport Museum for History & Culture,” and “The Barnum Festival.” Additionally, she has served on the boards of the Westport Downtown Association and Saugatuck Nursery School. She is a Governor at the Minute Man Yacht Club, an active member of the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, and has participated in the AWARECT Gala committee, focusing on empowering women and girls. Evans has also attended numerous UNA-USA events and produced multiple videos for UN Women on International Women’s Day over the past four years.

Evans’ campaign emphasizes family values and community strength. She advocates for policies that support working families, such as affordable childcare, parental leave, and family-friendly workplace practices. She is dedicated to creating an environment where families can thrive and children have the resources they need to succeed.

Evans also prioritizes community unity and economic development. She is committed to supporting all businesses and attracting new industries to the area. Her platform includes promoting workforce development initiatives to equip residents with skills necessary for success in the modern economy. She also focuses on improving access to healthcare services, addressing public safety concerns, and implementing programs that support mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Residing in Westport with her family, including her two school-aged children, Evans enjoys volunteering, reading, and outdoor activities, particularly horseback riding with her children. Her personal and professional experiences have shaped her vision for District 26, and she is dedicated to representing all residents.
