From the Heart of Waveny

In a heartwarming display of dedication and generosity, Thomas Girolamo, a Social Worker at Waveny LifeCare Network, is channeling his lifelong commitment to helping others into a new real estate initiative aimed at supporting his community.

Girolamo’s altruistic journey traces back to his upbringing, where his mother instilled in him and his siblings a deep-seated ethos of giving back. As a teenager, Girolamo spent four formative summers volunteering at a local hospital, laying the foundation for what would become a 30+ year career dedicated to serving others.

Now, in 2024, Girolamo’s passion for philanthropy in the town where he has lived since 1998 has found a new avenue. Teaming up with his twin sister, Teresa Girolamo, whose real estate brokerage, Oenoke Ridge Realty serves the New Canaan community, Girolamo has pledged to donate a remarkable 50% of his commissions to Waveny LifeCare Network.

Reflecting on his decision, Girolamo expressed a profound desire to give back directly to the non-profit organization where he works. “Over the past four years at Waveny, I started to consider how I could help right here,” Girolamo shared. “I hope that the contributions I am able to make from my real estate commissions can enhance our facilities to match the superior level of care we provide, and I hope that others will join me.”

This pledge didn’t go unnoticed. Girolamo recently presented his first donation of $2,175 to Waveny’s President and CEO, Russ Barksdale, marking the beginning of what promises to be a transformative commitment to Waveny.

In response, Barksdale expressed deep gratitude for Girolamo’s selfless gesture, stating, “We are blessed to have such caring and giving professionals at Waveny and in New Canaan. As he continues to devote himself to the service of others, Girolamo embodies the spirit of altruism that lies at the heart of Waveny LifeCare Network.”

Girolamo’s initiative serves as a poignant reminder of the power of selfless action to effect positive change within communities, demonstrating that compassion and generosity know no bounds.
