Dear Editor,
My first year as chair of the St Mark’s May Fair is complete. I want to express my gratitude to the many who helped support our Parish’s annual event to contribute to those in our community who can use our financial and spiritual support!
May Fair needs New Canaan – and I believe New Canaan is better for having a May Fair! To witness the multi-generations coming together to enjoy the fair, renew acquaintances, and kick o the summer season was indeed special to observe – both from afar and in the thick of it.
A special thanks to our 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee sponsors Karl Chevrolet and Walter Stewart’s Market for their loyal annual support – along with our other generous town business sponsors, including Bankwell, The Sigg Team, Lifetime Landscaping, Pennyweights, CD Interiors, New Canaan Sentinel, Newcanaanite, and Zumbach’s Coffee.
Thanks to our caring New Canaan Police Department, our EMS corps, the CERT organization, and the great drivers at Get About who help our patrons get to the fair – all safely. We are also grateful to align with our local SLOBS volunteers, Boy Scout Troop #70, and the more than 25 members of Pivot Ministries in Bridgeport – each of them lending more than helpful hands but smiles too.
St Mark’s has been a part of New Canaan for over 275 years – and May Fair has been a part of St Mark’s and New Canaan for the past 75 years – that is a long-standing and well-enjoyed relationship! On behalf of our May Fair Committee, we hope everyone who attended had a great time and that New Canaan has a peaceful summer!
I’ll see you next year in May 2025, as I’m honored to lead it again. And remember, May Fair always coincides with Mother’s Day weekend.
