Question: What is the New Canaan CARES Home Tour?
Answer: The Home Tour is a New Canaan CARES fundraising event and long-standing tradition with 100% of proceeds directly supporting youth leadership programs, parent workshops, and health and wellness programs for the whole community.
On May 31 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, attendees can tour five beautiful homes that range in style from an antique farmhouse, to an amazing mid-century home, to a newer construction classic. This will be the 31st Annual Home Tour!
The theme for this year’s Home Tour is “Connection by Design” and tour goers will notice that in each home there is a unique design aspect that connects to one of New Canaan CARES main pillars – Empowering Youth, Strengthening Family, and Building Community.
“We wanted to really highlight CARES’s mission and all the programming that events like this help support,” said Colleen Prostor, New Canaan CARES Executive Director, “And there are a few fun surprises on the Tour planned as well!”
For the first time this year, an optional Post Tour party will be held immediately following the tour at a bonus sixth home. Ticket holders will be able to gather and enjoy special drinks and light bites, live music, and a floral demonstration.
Also new this year is an updated prize drawing, open to everyone. Tickets are $25, and CARES has put together 5 raffle prize packages that highlight some local New Canaan businesses, including “Best of New Canaan” : Manfredi jewelry, Summer Theater of New Canaan tickets, a gift card from Rosie’s, and brownies and tea gift set from Grace Farms. “Fun for Kids” includes a week of summer camp at the New Canaan Nature Center, and gift cards from Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and New Canaan Toy Store. You do not need to be present to win.
“New Canaan CARES is so thankful for all the people who make this day possible – from the generosity of homeowners who open their homes, the sponsors who support the event, our Home Tour Co-Chairs, Natalie Jones and Elise Walters, and the many other Committee volunteers,” noted Prostor.
