To the Editor:
On Sunday, April 28th 320 people learned how to “save a life” by attending the New Canaan EMS’s CPR event “Hands For Life” at the YMCA. This success would not have been possible without the seamless preparation and cooperation of New Canaan’s EMTs, the YMCA staff, CERT, Sacred Heart University Nursing students and instructors, and many volunteers who gave up so much time to help our community preparedness in a very big way.
The hands-on orientation, practice sessions, and training on Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) provided invaluable knowledge and skills to attendees, instilling confidence and dispelling apprehension surrounding emergency response. The brief 20-25 minute training sessions were educational and empowering, equipping individuals with the ability to potentially save lives.
Finally, we want to thank your NCEMS volunteer EMTs, who work hard every day and night to provide 24/7 emergency services without charge. To learn more about New Canaan’s EMS, go to newcanaanems.org.
