Seven widely acclaimed visiting musicians will join New Canaan Chamber Music for a memorable concert on Thursday, April 11 at 3 pm and Friday, April 12 at 7:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church New Canaan.

Alison Shearer, a stunning, world-recognized jazz saxophonist, who is also a flutist and a composer, will perform with piano virtuoso and New Canaan Chamber Music Artistic Director Andrew Armstrong and five instrumental string players. This is the largest group on stage this season. Armstrong calls it, “A blow-out extravaganza!” They will present one of the most diverse programs ever from New Canaan Chamber Music as it bridges the worlds of jazz and classical music.

Other musicians will include Karl Stobbe, violin; Abigél Králik, violin; Joan DerHovsepian, viola; Ani Aznavoorian; cello; and Marguerite Cox, double bass. They will play together in surprisingly varied ensembles and works, including Shearer’s original composition “Apollosis” for Alto Sax, Strings, and Piano whose World Premiere will take place only days before the New Canaan concert.

As part of New Canaan Chamber Music’s expansive outreach program, their special Children and Families concert will be on May 5 at 3 pm at the New Canaan Library. Children will be admitted free with a ticket holding adult. To purchase tickets visit www.newcanaanchambermusic.org.
