ISSUED FROM Russ Kimes, Emergency Management Director

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning from 11AM today, Wednesday, April 3th until 6AM Thursday, April 4th.   East winds of 25-35mph with gusts up to 60mph are expected with peak winds between 3PM and midnight today.

With the ground completely saturated by rainfall, the likelihood of trees falling is increased causing roads to be blocked and potential power outages.  Please secure loose items outside your home or business.

If you have a power outage you can notify Eversource by accessing  https://www.eversource.com/cg/customer/reportoutage or by calling: 800-286-2000

You can check on the status of an outage and any restoration estimates from Eversource at https://outagemap.eversource.com/  or by texting “STAT” to 23129.  Do not contact New Canaan Police to report or check on the status of a power outage, the map is the best source of real-time information.

If you have an emergency dial 911, for non-emergencies such as trees blocking roads without wires down call New Canaan Police at 203-594-3500.

If you are using a portable generator during a power outage, be sure to keep it in a well ventilated area at least 5 feet from all doors, windows and openings.

Stay Safe New Canaan

Russ Kimes

Emergency Management Director
