In partnership with local artists and artisans, the Carriage Barn Arts Center will present an evening of cultural immersion with “A Taste of Tango” on Saturday, March 23. The festivities will begin with a wine tasting of Argentinian wines at 5:30 PM, followed by a dance performance from 6-7 PM. Attendees will indulge in the rich flavors of Argentinian wines courtesy of Bousquet Winery of Argentina, presented by Red Grape Wine & Spirits. Professionals from the renowned Bodies Never Lie dance company, including dancers from the Joffrey Ballet New York and principals from the Dance Theatre of Harlem, will perform live.

Members of Bodies Never Lie have choreographed the evening’s performances to the soul-stirring compositions of acclaimed Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla and the rhythmic beats of Buenos Aires sensation Gotan Project. The show’s lighting, provided by local photographer and musician Robert Capazzo, will transport audiences on an evening trip to Argentina.

Jessica Ruhlin is the founder and artistic director of Bodies Never Lie dance company, an instructor from the New York City Ballet, and the Membership Manager of the Carriage Barn Arts Center. In addition to the night’s captivating dance performances, if desired, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a lively tango lesson led by Jessica.

Throughout the event, former professional ballerina and Carriage Barn member Barbara Simonson will capture the magic of the evening in her watercolor and pencil sketches, available for purchase after the performance.

Tickets for “A Taste of Tango” are available for $35, with a special rate of $25 for children aged 16 and under. This event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Argentinian culture, dance, and wine, made possible by the collaborative efforts of talented individuals within the New Canaan community and the Carriage Barn Arts Center organization. Please visit the Carriage Barn website, https://carriagebarn.org, for tickets and more information.

Award winning photographer Bob Capazzo will be on hand to photograph the event.
