The New Canaan Coalition is pleased to announce the 2024 substance use and misuse campaign focused on vaping. The campaign kicks off on March 13th and features stickers designed by New Canaan teens. These stickers will be placed on to-go bags and coffee cups by participating partners. We are very grateful to our community partners for their support: Chef Prasad, Club Sandwich, Joe’s Pizza, Locali, New Canaan Chicken, Pinocchio’s Pizza, Press Burger, Tony’s, and Zumbach’s.
This year’s stickers not only look to inform our community about the dangers of vaping, but also include vaping cessation information for teens, so they know where to seek help in CT.
New Canaan CARES’ Education and Program Manager, Maureen Asiel, who also leads the New Canaan Coalition as the Coalition Coordinator, shared, “We appreciate the continued participation from New Canaan teens to create vaping messages for their peers. National vaping rates among high school students have declined, showing that anti-vaping education is having an impact.”
In CT, each municipality has a Local Prevention Council (LPC) composed of stakeholders from twelve sectors whose goal is to increase public awareness of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention with a primary focus on youth. New Canaan CARES holds the grant and coordinates the LPC and the New Canaan Coalition.
