As we say goodbye to 2023, the New Canaan Sentinel takes a moment to reflect on our journey on social media platforms. Since our digital and print debut on August 25, 2023, the community’s engagement and support have propelled us forward, transforming our online presence into a vibrant hub for local news and discussions.

From breaking stories to community events, our Facebook and Instagram feeds have become essential tools for keeping residents informed and connected. Over these past four months, every story we’ve published, every comment we’ve received, and every shared post has contributed to shaping our digital identity. Through your likes, shares, comments, and messages, you’ve shaped the narratives, sparked meaningful dialogues, and highlighted the issues that matter most to New Canaan residents.

Beginning in late August, we shared photos promoting art shows at Silvermine Galleries, the Glass House, the Carriage Barn Arts Center, and more. We helped spread news involving Board of Selectmen meetings, debates, and events and closures around town. Local businesses were spotlighted and celebrated. During holiday seasons and activities, we asked New Canaan families to collect and submit photos so that we could feature locals online and in the paper. Active involvement has not only expanded our reach but has also enriched our content, ensuring that we remain rooted in the values and aspirations of New Canaan.

Looking ahead to the upcoming year, we encourage everyone to continue engaging with us on social media. Whether it’s sharing a local event, voicing an opinion, or simply staying informed, your involvement makes a difference. By actively participating in these digital conversations, you contribute to a more informed, connected, and vibrant New Canaan community.

As we celebrate our four-month anniversary on social media, the close of the inaugural year of our paper, and the new year, the New Canaan Sentinel remains steadfastly committed to serving this vibrant community. Here’s to many more months of collaboration, conversation, and community building. Thank you for making our first four months truly memorable. Here’s to 2024!
