You may have noticed inspectors knocking on doors or taking photos of buildings around town. Or perhaps you’ve already received a letter, asking you to verify data about a property you own. It’s all part of the state mandated revaluation project of 2023.

The Town of New Canaan has hired Municipal Valuations Services, LLC (Munival) of Fairfield, Conn., to help it complete the project. “As part of the second phase, Municipal Valuation Services will have data collection personnel assigned throughout the Town of New Canaan, potentially completing double inspections for Quality Control purposes to ensure quality and accuracy,” the Town notes on its webpage. “Munival will also be inspecting/verifying the percent complete of current Building Permits in addition to taking exterior photos, inspecting, and measuring the exterior and interior of residential and commercial properties.”

Additionally, residential property owners will be sent data verification letters. Property owners are asked to verify or correct the information and send the form back to Munival. The forms can be mailed, emailed, faxed, or dropped off at the assessor’s office. (The office address information will be listed directly on your letter).

The Town advises that “All Munival employees will have a Town badge and a company (Munival) badge on their person, along with a signed letter of introduction. They will also have magnets on their vehicles and the company logo on their attire.”

Phase 2 is expected to run through Oct. 31, 2023. People with questions or concerns are welcome to call Municipal Valuation Services at (203) 292-5500.
